The Outcomes of HIS•TORY III

“You can’t wake up from a nightmare if you never fall asleep.”  Easy Rawlins, Private Investigator

During an October 9th interview on Background Briefing with Ian Masters Senator Bernie Sanders said the government shutdown discussion should focus more on the over 25% of Americans that won’t have access to the Affordable Care Act and “real unemployment today is not 7.4% but 14%…African American youth unemployment rate is close to 40%.”

I like the Senator from Vermont, he’s a different type of cat. Though a member of an exclusive political club the country could use more like him in government.

Of course this system won’t allow that to happen. Most enter politics, in the words of Randall Robinson, “to do good but end up doing well.” Sanders is battling the latest Citizens United Supreme Court case spin-off, McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission No. 12-536, which is challenging contribution limits to Political Action Committees (PACs). While many continue day-to-day survival people with plenty rewrite the rules and change the game.

What will be the result of President Obama negotiations to “reopen” government? Well, if history is any indicator the majority of us has a swift kick in the behind coming.
